Nine Inch Nails: Closer

The 1994 video for “Closer” by Nine Inch Nails is a masterpiece. Directed by Mark Romanek, the video features a gritty silent film aesthetic with imagery inspired by the works of Francis Bacon, Man Ray, Giorgio de Chirico and, most notably, The Brothers Quay, whose bizarre 1986 stop-motion film Streets of Crocodiles directly inspired the set design.

Watch a great behind-the-scenes video about the making of Closer right here.
